Fresh Spring Beauty & Skincare Products

Spring is the perfect time to rethink your beauty products, it's a great time to try and test out new products.

Spring brings out lighter colours, so shed those heavy auburn and red tones and opt for lighter shades of pink, floral scents to bask in to lift your mood and lay to rest those sandalwood fragrances and reach for those lighter creams.

If any brand can convince me to invest in their beauty products, then the gods at & Other Stories have spoken to me. There beauty and skincare products are nice light and won't break your the bank. I purchased two products whilst only going in for a new top, but low on hand cream and the beauty counter right by the till, (great add-on selling) it would have been rude to of not perused. A sucker for good packaging and a hint of pink, a little dollop, and massage into hands of the Miami Muse hand lotion is totally uplifting and invigorating, it's a delicate light scent of pink pepper, cotton candy, and musk and romantic refreshing light cream for Spring and I just knew this was the cream I needed this Spring. I also purchased the body mist in Miami Muse great size perfect to pop into my handbag and both items costing me less than £10 I certainly left with a spring in my step, and soft supple hands and smelling like a spring dream.

I have always been a fan of Glossier, the packaging and branding also, but never tried any of their products, so when I found out last year they were launching FINALLY in the U.K. And a pop up store to celebrate, which unfortunately and annoyingly I had to miss due to work commitments, I finally got round to ordering a few little products. The first product I tried was the cloud paint, in the shade Haze it was love at first apply, granted with my heavy hands I squeezed out a tad too much I know that this super lightweight liquid blusher is going to last. Regrettably, Glossier are not sold in stores, but I was able to find the shade I was after this Spring with the models on site of different colouring and how it looks applied makes it easy for you to choose.

Rodial Skincare Dragon’s Blood Velvet Cream I first used last year winter which I was sent with my MINTD Box, but now I have recently repurchased and use as my day cream. Rich enough for me to use on its own without an oil underneath and light enough for all-day use, especially as my days of late have been starting at 5am and does not leave the skin feeling cloggy and heavy, but glides on like water and leaves the skin hydrated. Perfect for anyone who has dry to combination skin.

The smell of Decelor's Aurabsolu Intense For Eyes is simply divine, not only just smells heavenly it works wonders too. This under eye brightening cream works wonders, especially for those who suffer from dark circles or had a sleepless night. the perfect under eye brightener to lift your face in time for Spring.

Now whilst this may not be a beauty or skincare product, I adore H&M's affordable candle scents. This scent, Wild Flower is a little nostalgic for me as it reminds and takes me back to the Lavender fields with Leanora, chasing her through the fields.

5 Ways To Maintain Your Health In Your 30s

Your 20s are for living it up and partying likes it's 1999, health and maintaining it was never on my agenda but is it in most 20 year olds, a big fat nope!

You can eat what you want, drink what you want with no consequences, but now that I'm in my 30s  I can no longer act or eat they way did in my 30s

SHOP MY LOOK

Regrettably having to admit, my metabolism has slowed, I've gained extra weight, which I'm trying to currently shift, but I'm finding it hard a girl likes to eat! I'm all about that cosy cheesy carb life, yesterday I made a pot of mac n cheese and I can honestly say I tore it up and taken the last bit with me to work or, so by the time you've read this I would have scoffed the lot.

As much as I love to chow down have a glass of wine after a long night, I gotta take easy, I am not getting any younger, I'm edging closer to 40 and I've got to maintain my health in my 30s to have a longer life and having to teach myself the art of life, making me feel as though I need a physics tutor

Forever one for excuses as legitimate as they may be, such as work, single parent, pet owner, blog life, family life I, we have to stop making up excuses, the first step is always the hardest, but when you've taken that first step, no matter how big or small

SHOP MY LOOK

Cut down on drinking
After a long day at work, Leanora in bed, I can tidy up the evening's mess and wash up the plates from dinner. I do like to soak in the bath with a glass of wine once all the chores are done. Whilst I like to have a glass most nights, it is not good for me or you, so I am cutting back and having a drink on a Friday to help me unwind I mean im not a total moron nor will I'll ever give up a nice tasty bottle of plonk, but cutting down will certainly keep me healthier and fitter for longer.

Run more
I loved nothing more, pre-parenting than running, hitting the beaten path, finding new paths and getting lost in my own thoughts, with music from http://www.cheapvinyl.co.uk and pounding out all that fatigue from the day. Regrettably i've not been able to do this as of much being a single parent, working etc... You see what I am doing, making excuses. Well no way, I will try and manage my time better now that Leanora sees her father every other weekend, I'll be taking that time to get good run in. If you have help or a partner at home, get up an hour ealier, especially that the sun rises earlier and get some fresh air into those lungs, nothing screams healthier than starting the day with a good workout, plus I also recently invested in a new bike from Bike Discount UK

Get to bed early
In order for me to feel great especially that I wake up at crazy hours in the morning, is making sure I get a good nights rest and an early one. I make sure before I leave the office I have a little todo list so that when I come home I can use my time wisely and get organised quicker in order for me to get a good nights rest making me feel healthier and refreshed in the morning.

Invest in your skin
Now that I am older, I am trying to fight off the first signs of ageing and I am combating it with a few good investments buy beauty products. Whilst everyone's budget is different, nothing quite beats a good cleanser, serum and face cream being applied to your skin of a night, as well as hand cream, to keep hands soft and youthful.

Healthy diet
When can not fight ageing and with that comes a slower metabolism, eyes and general health can be affected. I have changed up my diet, and gone for healthier choices and eating a lot less meat and I've also incorporated into my diet oat milk, a total game changer plus changing my diet has left me feeling less bloated, therefore allowing me to slip in to some new items from Rails Clothing as well as getting myself in for my health checks ups too.

Have you changed your lifestyle for healthier options, no matter your age, what have you been doing?

Books To Love And Read In April

Okay, you guys, have any of you read the latest and last instalment of Judith Rashleigh's life, Ultima? If you have not you are totally missing out and I'll tell you why, in a moment....

Each month I am treating myself to some great reads, last months was insane, this month I am just topping myself with some gripping,  funny, erotically dark murderously thrilling reads and something light and good for the soul.

All the best authors, know how to start off a good book, that one-liner, the first sentence is what draws me in, if I am not gripped or compelled, to sit on the floor in the bookstore it's getting tossed and I am moving on. Bookstores, library's since a young age have been my utopia, I love adventure, thrillers, poetry I love it all. I did forget how much so, with life in the way, but after reading sapiens, my brain craved for more knowledge, something shocking, funny, educational, thrilling reads and now you will not find me leaving the house without a good book in hand.

I always found reading relaxes me, takes me from the days stresses or more likely prepares me for the day, be it on my commute to work, sneaking in a quick read here and there throughout the day On my way to meeting to meeting as I combat the traffic with Gett I feel uplifted, invigorated and I eagerly wait for more.

Ultima, the last instalment of this trilogy of a good girl working in an art auction house, boring life, feeling undervalued at work, she bumps into an old school friend, becomes a hostess then her story takes a dark, exotic, luxurious, murderous twist throughout. Now, this is like a mash-up of 50 shades of grey meeting a deadly assassin. A total page turner that will want you craving for more and I have about 50 pages lefts and I just do not want it to end.

Having worked in property and knowing the realities we face within in property law, this book, Our House is one that promises from the offset to be a thrilling read. Trust me the first sentence will compel you to find out what happens when you buy your home, your home that you did not sell!!!!

The Hate U Give Us, a gripping book, based on the black lives matter movement. Angie Thomas, who witnessed the shooting of a dear unarmed friend by police, inspired her to write this compelling and inspiring novel.

Milk and Honey an insta famous book I've been meaning to sink my teeth into a beautiful collection of stories, to inspire, and to heal.

I will be on the hunt again this weekend for some new reads for next month, I'm thinking something inspirational, thrilling, historical maybe even parenting. Do you have any suggestions, or know of any books I should sink my teeth into?

Have you read any of these boos, what were your thoughts?

Happy reading

London Adventure with Gett x Porsche

Um, we all love a half day from work am I right? I did just that, broke my gal out of preschool early with a little help from Gett and Porsche and we set off cruising around London for the afternoon for a little adventure and some quality mummy and daughter time.

With work being so hectic at the moment I've not been able to get some little dates in with my gal, just me and her, her and me. Racking my brain on what we should do where we should go, not that it would matter much, as long as I am with her is the main thing, but I wanted it to be, in Leanora's words 'The best day ever'. So when Gett got in touch, I hatched a plan on braking my gal out in style and day filled with fun.

Travelling around with a toddler can be super stressful, especially when you do not drive, so I have been relying heavily on my Gett app to get us round in comfort, less stress and in style as well as being hassle-free, especially as we do not have to find or pay for any parking, so makes it easier for us to hop in and hop out of our car.

Porsche ordered from our Gett app, laptop shut down, jacket on, I said peace out to the ladies in the office and I made a beeline to the exit of the building, and slid into the waiting, open doors of our chariot for the day. We set off across London to get Leanora, not before a few quick work calls and answered emails, I know what can I say I'm a workaholic, but with phone and iPad charges available it would have been rude of me to not of taken advantage to get some quick emails in.

Scooped Leanora out of preschool we bounced into the car and set off for our first adventure, the Natural History Museum, to see the Butterfly exhibition. The look on Leanora's face was pure bliss, she is nuts about butterflies, if we could I am sure she would have taken them home, Milo I am sure would have been pleased. I'm not gonna lie I was a bit of a scaredy cat, things flying around and what could potentially land and poop on you I wasn't 100% keen on it, but I had to man up, I mean if I can give birth I can sure as hell face beautiful butterflies. So I did, with flying colours.

Still keen to enjoy roaming around we headed out of the butterfly tent and set off around to explore so more wonders of the museum.

Not realising how hungry you can get from roaming the museum. I decided it was high time to set about calling our Gett x Porsche to take us to dinner at our new fave pizzeria, Pizza Pilgrims.

For me and most parents, saving in any form is a bonus, and I love the fact you can earn points when booking with the Gett app and work your way towards saving money from future rides. Another bonus is, you can also get to choose the music before you get in, choose how chatty your driver is too, which is perfect if you have chatty toddlers like Leanora and tired Mumma's who just wanna kick back when we head home.

For those who sign up with the Gett app, you can get £10 credit off your first ride with LINDSEY10

How To Eat Healthy On Holiday

One of the biggest hurdles we face whilst relaxing by the beach is finding good healthy food on holiday.

Holidays are meant to be enjoyed, celebrated and lived up and I know that some fret about the new cuisine on offer, allergies, diets etc and most importantly eating healthy and me fitting into my new Warehouse maxi dress

Eating healthily whilst on holiday can be easily achieved and perfected to help maintain that perfect beach bod that you have been craving and working for no matter where you are or what tropical island you have whisked off too.

Holiday booked thanks to Destination2  I've had to think how I and Leanora will, ok, ok mainly me will maintain a healthy diet, and in doing so it will all have to start at the beginning.......

Airport
I have to be organised at all times, especially now that I am a mother, but you can not help being stuck in traffic causing you delays and when arriving stopping at the first fast food restaurant you land at in the airport, but if you do, why not grab a yoghurt and a few nuts to keep you going rather than a fatty fast food snack, that will only end up bloating you.

Aeroplane food
Some airlines you can order before you board, giving you a better view of what is on offer on the flight, therefore being prepped and food ordered which will have you backing away from the trolly dollies.

Mini Bar
Step away from the mini bar, they are always loaded with snacks, most not healthy and a lot of calories and sugar inside. Rather get up venture out and check out the local shops to see what is on offer, great food, plus a walking work out too.

Breakfast
I used to be a skipper, but that is not healthy and only leaves me crashing and snacking on crap throughout the day. Instead, load up on breakfast, your fruit, veg fill up on your 5 a day to keep you fuelled right up to lunch.

Dining
Eat what the locals eat, be it fresh fish to grilled meats, after all, you do not want to miss out, but it will be fresher and lighter, then come dinner eat something lighter and greener, your gut will thank you for eating healthier and you won't go to bed with a heavy stomach, plus eating more for lunch will be a saving for you for later and allow you to survive the day longer.

How do you eat healthily whilst on holiday?

Spring Looks With IKrush

As you know I have already started to invest into my spring wardrobe, and I am adding to it a little bit more with a new brand discovery, Ikrush who I have teamed up with on this post.

If I am not wearing a relaxed shirt, never crisp as I can't bear ironing after I ironed over my hand in my teens, you will certainly find me in a t-shirt. With Ikrush great price points, you think the would skimp on the fabric, hell to the no! This slogan T is one of the softest that I own, plus who would have thought that a good slogan tee would make fashion girls all over the world go wild. For me a great T does not require ironing, simply slip on, rock with some high waisted lilac palazzo trousers some cute white heels and grab your straw bag and you are good to go from day to night. Looking for something a little more relaxed, I'll be wearing my slogan T with a blazer and jeans the perfect school run style

Still staying true to myself I toughened up this cutesy red floral dress with some studded boots to give the dress an edgier look, whilst still looking somewhat playful and if wanting a softer look, team with some tennis trainers and layer on some necklaces, the perfect look for catching up with the girls over some brunch.

Whatever look you are going for be it the perfect party dresses or slogan T-shirts trust me IKrush have you covered this Spring!

The Jacket You Need This Spring

In case you haven't heard, spring is finally here, the April showers may be sticking around, so keep your umbrella close, but the trees are blooming the weather has slightly warmed, which mean we can peel off our heavy coats and I'm pulling on the jacket of the moment, the cargo jacket for spring.

SHOP THE LOOK

Whilst the checked blazers, jackets, coats are still a big thing, and show no sign of going anywhere (minus the coat) a new casual, relaxed jacket is making waves and will be the jacket to wear this spring.

Never one to heavily invest in one thing specifically I can't help but say, a girl is kinda hooked on the cargo jacket. It is super versatile, can be dressed up or down, perfect to pull on for the preschool run, safari style hitting up the concrete jungle with the kids, so slips in perfectly to the mum wardrobe staple paired with jeans, the perfect white T and trainers.
SHOP CARGO JACKETS

Tailored to perfection which is all kinds of amazing for teaming it up with some trousers and a shirt for work, great for layering and worn belted with a black dress on a night out with some heels, every day and night occasion is sorted and Instagram looks taken care of.

The shacket with its total flexibility and array of prints, colours of spring pastels, safari shades, to even every girl's favourite denim, the style and comfort levels and affordability is out of this world and is perfect for everyone's pocket when it comes to the cargo jacket this spring.

With the simplicity of it, the cargo jacket is the one item that will complete your look this Spring, will it be completing yours?

How To Welcome Spring Into Your Home

Remember I have been bashing on about updating the house, well that time has come and I've finally made a decision just in time and I am happy to welcome Spring into my home

With a glimpse of bright blue clear spring skies yesterday I am more geared up than ever to finally complete the house.

The Easter weekend just went I had a massive spring clean, with a little helping hand from Leanora. Whilst I should have been taking it easy, especially as I made sure to book myself time away from work, I still found myself working, well home working, but it's a necessity and we really enjoyed it.

Nothing like a good declutter at the beginning of a new season, armed with bunny biscuit fuel and a few light refreshments, recycling and rubbish bags at the ready, we set about de-hoarding. Note to self, never declutter with  a charged up mad threenager who wants to keep everything that glistens in her eye, I mean we had a 10 minute argument as to why we should throw out a chewed up shimmer and shine pencil (don't ask, I don't know, and I don't care) to which resulted in her FaceTime'ing my mother to tell me off, I mean I pay the bills, kinda glad I was a bad parent and ate half her Easter egg now whilst she was asleep.

I recently attended Amara's home event where they gave me some few tips on updating your home in time for Spring and how to decorate and personalise your home which I will be implementing into my home.

The focus should be on the look and feel that you want to incorporate it into your home adding a little bit of you, once you have your larger items in place, sofas and beds etc, you can then focus on the accessories. This is where I have come to a halt,  now whilst I have my larger items, it those little bits that bring a room to life that I've failed to purchase.

I am a firm believer in taking your time, well if you like me 3 years to be precise, but it's all about taking your time and I'll tell you why.

Budget
You got to start off with a budget, whilst I'll know most will go over it or hide the fact you may have done so with your partner, it is always best to have a set budget to work with, it is great for your pocket and knowing where to put your money.

Colour
Look at your room and your space, a lesson learnt if you are bringing in paint for example always purchase a sample, grab a piece of paper and move it around the room, a colour will look different on different sides of the room at various times of the day, so always good to play and move it around to get a good feel. Once you have decided on your colour scheme, stick to it, you do not want soft tones clashing with vibrant colours it won't work and will throw off the whole room, no one wants to walk into a chintz circus. If you are struggling for some help, always head over to Pinterest for inspo.

Blooms
Nothing lifts a room and brings it to life than adding a few plants and flowers into a room. If you can not afford flowers on a weekly basis, Ikea has some amazing artificial and affordable plants, also check out H&M for some amazing vases and the ever favourite Anthropologie also.

Scent
Nothing quite lifts the spirits than a candle burning, I love anything with notes of geranium or Jasmine, perfectly light and fresh and perfect for Spring. A favourite of mine is Baies by Diptyque it just lights up my mood and the house smells insane, in a good way. Looking for something a little more affordable you never go wrong with anything from H&M.

Tell us what you will be doing to inject Spring in to your home?

The Importance Of Taking Responsibility For Your Actions

SHIRT | SKIRT | Bag | SHoes

I never really understood it, maybe because I did not want to face my fears, but alas now I am in my 30's and finally feeling somewhat grown up, I now know the importance of taking responsibility for my actions.

I used to think, ah fuck it, I'll deal with it tomorrow, the next day and the next, which I now know is a very unhealthy outlook in life, heck not just my life, but my life now as a mother, a role model (one hopes) to my daughter.

How can I be a good human and a good mother, friend or sister (no lover for me, I'm taking a back seat from dating) if I can not take responsibility of what I am doing or lack thereof in life?

It doesn't just hit you, like the stretch marks do once you've pushed your baby out, no! It can be a gradual thing, you gotta think about what, who is going on around you, In order for you to take responsibility for your actions, but most importantly look at yourself in order to be in a healthy, acceptance mind frame.

Whilst life can be tough, it's as tough as you make it as they say and yes, my sensitive feisty Scorpio nature may have played a part in some, ok most of my bad decisions and wild younger days, I'm ready to face up to certain things in life, in order to move forward and be a better version of me and the first step is taking responsibility.

Accept defeat
Ahhh....A good old battle, a war of words if you like, I've never been one to back down from anything, even when I knew I've been in the wrong. I remember in my 20s when I worked in property, I had somewhat may call it a fiendish obsession with Greggs sausage rolls. I was not happy if I didn't have one, so strolling for my morning fix one day, I arrive at Greggs to order mummas baby (yeah, I'm that weirdo) to be told they had sold out, shut the front door they've only gone and bloody  'sold out, sold out' how dare they! I mean I've been out all night, still hungover and I've sauntered down here from the office and you've no sausages....poor thing, well not me, the poor staff after telling him the importance of providing sausages rolls as after all this is Greggs bread and butter. I stopped and laughed one because it was pathetic, two I did realise my unhealthy obsessions with scraps of pork, but ohh the pastry, the buttery pastry and thirdly I had to accept defeat and, take responsibility for me being rude and apologise. Letting things go, no matter the calorie content or big a small a matter may be, sometimes it is ok to accept defeat, riling yourself up and me looking like a twat will get me nowhere in life and you know walking away from a situation can be healthy for you and your soul, waistline too.

Step outside the box
Exactly that, put yourself in the other person's shoes, assess the situation from someone else point view and stop being selfish and put others first, take charge and accountability for your actions.

Stop making excuses
Only you lose here, no one else. You miss out on new opportunities, friendships and experiences, so simply stop making excuses and accept responsibility for the situation at hand, after all, is it not a better you, better life, adventure, opportunities we all crave?!
