What To Know Before Buying A Car

What sounds better than hitting the open road, roof top down, your favourite song playing and setting off on a new adventure.

Nothing sounds better than that! But what puts a bummer into it, is I don’t have my driving license, but by the time you’ve read this, I should have passed my driving test and become a prouder owner at 35 of a drivers licence, so long provisional I’m an official license holder.

I’ve been thinking about getting a brand new car, but I want to ease myself into it and not splash the cash, I mean you can get some next to brand new secondhand brilliant, good condition cars!

When sourcing a secondhand car, there a few things to take into consideration, one its time, have patience you will find the right car for you. When looking to buy a car, you also have to do your research on the dealer, making sure they are trustworthy! Google them and check out their reviews, you don’t want to have any post-sale issues, hop fully that won’t be the case, but better to be safe, do your research.

I’ve been looking at cars for a while now and I think I found the perfect one. A few weeks back, Leanora and I went to Brighton for the day to meet friends for lunch. I was talking about purchasing a secondhand car and a friend referred me to KAP Motor’s. Soon after lunch we set off and headed to the dealer, when looking at second hand cars at dealers, a little tip inspect the car when you found the one for you for dents, scratches and even tyres, be a little bit cheeky and negotiate on the deal, after all you don’t ask you don’t get.

Hopefully, I’ve passed and pick up my new beauty.

Do you have any tips for purchasing a secondhand car?

The £10 Monthly Beauty Subscription I Can't Recommend Enough

As we come in to a new season, new skincare is needed for the cooler weather, as like you I notice a change in my skin, it’s becomes more dry and more hydration is required and I need to treat it accordingly.

Beauty Pie, the new monthly beauty subscription, it is the latest must have, it allows you to buy premium skincare and beauty products available at affordable prices, it’s hard to pass it up and I have to say I’m addicted.

Introduced officially by a colleague and seeing it all over Instagram I had to give it a go, the beauty junkie in me could not resist.

I decided to start with the first membership level at £10 per month giving you up to £100 to spend, just to dip my toes and test the waters! Bonus your first month you can choose products up to £200. How it works is like this instead of paying for full price you purchase at members price and each month your membership allowance renews and any money you have left over simply rolls over.

I selected the Japanfusion Pure Transforming Cleanser, it transforms from gel to oil to milk (once in contact with water) super lightweight balm and fragrance free and is perfect for my sensitive skin to help brake down my makeup and pollutions. I use it everyday and a small amount goes along way, and to help remove any left over residue I use it’s best bud, Double-Sided Organic Cleansing & Exfoliating Cloths the perfect accompaniment to any cleanser.

A skincare product that I use on a daily basis is oils, great for forming, plumping and adding that much needed hydration into your skin to give you that perfect glow and supple looking skin, so for he past month I’ve been using Beauty Pies, Superdrops™ High Intensity Hydration serum, if I’m honest whilst it glides on my skin it’s very watery and for me used on my skin on its own it doesn’t do much so I add a few drops to the Super Healthy Skin™ Daily Moisture Lotion and I find combing the two give me the healthy hydrating glow I’m after. The Daily Moisture Lotion is a true gem for me, not to light, yet not too heavy and doesn’t leave you with that greasy feel either once applied, it’s suitable for all skin types plus vegan friendly also.

With a busy work schedule and out most days, in meetings having to pound the pavements my feet need a little extra TLC so I added to basket the, Dr Glycolic™ Soft Feet Peel Socks, you can imagine my surprise when in my reformer Pilates class when I took my trainers and socks off to find they were peeling, whilst I totally forgot that they would start to peel after 7 days I couldn’t hide my shame!!! But a few days later when they stopped peeling my feet did feel as soft as anything and cracked heel repaired, thanks to the bags you keep on your feet for an hour are filled with high-percentages of Glycolic and Lactic Acids, Natural Fruit extracts of Grapefruit, Orange and Lemon, plus Sweet Almond and Coconut extracts.

Beauty Pie originally started with makeup and have branched out into skincare, hair care, fragrance and now bodycare so I had to select a few makeup pieces, it would be rude not too! I love a glow no matter the tome of year, but wanting to boost radiation in a subtle way and stepping out my comfort zone and playing trying new makeup to see what works for me I knew I had to try the Pro-Glow™ Superstrobing Drops, a cruelty-free vegan friendly highlighter, perfect t to use on its own or a little added to your foundation for the ultimate glow on those dull days and perfect now for the party season for that supermodel glow. It comes in two colours, Illuminati & AstroTurf, I’ve purchased both as Leanora decided to put her on and her dolls caught her and she dropped the Astroturf in shock and my horror, but both are great for my skin tone......and hers!!

I’m an 80’s baby and a 90’s teen and it was all about the lip gloss, so it would of been rude to not of purchased the Nude Nectar, Wondergloss Lip Oil. I wouldn’t really say it’s a lip oil, more of a gloss, a little sticky but it doesn’t bother me, once worn it does make my lips feel a tad dry, so I like to use a balm before application and I use it everyday I don’t hate, but I don’t love it either, but weirdly enough I carry it with me everyday.

Thinking of signing up, you can get your first month FREE add my name Lindsey London Mumma at checkout.

Wild Mushroom With Thyme Pizza

This wild mushroom with thyme pizza is flavoursome and pure perfection! It’s not your traditional red sauce pizza, oh no, it’s a lot more special than that! Here it’s covered with a tasty bechamel sauce, it is super quick to make, perfect for those days when you get home late and assembled with one of our top veggies, plus costs next to nothing to make!!

When it comes to pizza night, we like to keep things simple and make it easy for ourselves so pizza base is always bought, in fairness I’ve never made a pizza base from scratch, but I rather keep things simple for myself, plus when we make pizza at home we always get a gluten-free base, as I’m sure I have an intolerance to it.

We went for Wild Mushrooms for our pizza, a great selection from all over the world, plus I added a few chestnut ones in too for that extra nuttiness, with fresh thyme.

Now, if you don’t know, we have an obsession with mushrooms in this house, if we could have them every day it certainly wouldn’t be an issue, one of our favourite ways to have them is roasted with polenta, another great rich and hearty weeknight meal for these dark nights we are having. Another great recipe which always goes down well with the kids  is my mushroom and lentil Bolognese, always a hit, trust me and they don’t even miss or ask for meat.

Ingredients
3tbs unsalted butter
3tbs all-purpose flour
* 1 cup (260ml of milk)
* 1 Tbs. chopped fresh oregano
* Salt
* freshly ground pepper
* 250 grams of mixed wild mushrooms, such as chanterellesshiitakes or oyster and chestnut mushrooms, trimmed and sliced
* A few springs of fresh thyme, chopped

Directions
1. Kicking off, pre heat your oven to 210c
2. In a small saucepan set over a medium heat, you are going to make your béchamel sauce. Melt your butter, then whisk in your flour add in your milk, oregano a pinch of salt and pepper and keep on whisking to make your sauce, when it covers the back of your spoon you know it’s done
3. Spread over your sauce on to your pizza base and a sprinkle over your chopped mushrooms and thyme
4. Place in the over for 10-12 minutes or until your pizza is crispy and golden

Serve with salad, crisp white wine for you juice for the kids and thank me later.

Don’t you just wish every night was pizza night!? If you fancy a meat pizza, then i highly recommend you try my fig, mozzarella and prosciutto pizza, say goodbye to Domino's.

5 Ways To Stand Out At Work

What is the The secret to standing out at work? Well it depends on the type of person that you are, be it the witty, cheeky one to the ever so serious focused person to the cool as cucumber colleague. Know matter the type of person you are, play those to your strengths to get you out there in the best light possible of course, nothing less credible than a cockey colleague.

1. Support your team
To put it honestly, there is no I in team, support others around you. If you see your colleague struggling and needing a support offer it. It's shows you know what you are doing and offering support is a sure fire way to get you stand out, plus it a brilliant way to help with your own personal development and progression.

2. Deliver Your Best Service
Believe it or not going above and beyond and showing empathy goes a long way trust me, it took me a while to even realise! We all have busy demanding jobs, but turn the tables and think of how you want to be treated and the service that you want to be delivered. Nothing worse than receiving communication that you are unhappy with. We have all been there be it trying to contact our bank, or phone provider to be in hold for 30 plus minutes to finally get through and talk to someone who literally can not be bothered to help you, or the worst one your train is delayed you get no information or on the tube and stuck in the underground and then driver tells you diddly squat about what is happening and the only way to find out is by checking Twitter? That's when I stumbled on CALLCARE who did research on how long it took customer service accounts in the UK for train and tram companies to respond to tweets from customers, and I was surprised by the stats.
You know the still by now, deliver the best sincere service, manage others expectations even your own, the more you practice this and take a moment to listen the best service you will be delivering to help you stand out.

3. Develop Your Strength
We all know our strengths and what we can offer, so work and develop it, make it your own so that our colleagues your boss, know that if they need help in that department that they can come and rely on you for support and knowledge.

4. Be positive
Nothing worse than a negative Nancy! Negativity can spread like wild fire, now Dont get me wrong we can all have bad days, wake up on the wrong side of the bed, when speak with someone at work and put you in a funk!  Best way to deal with that take 5 out for yourself, Dont forget most importantly your mindset is what matters the most in order for you to be the best you.

5. Be A Sponge
Another smart way to get yourself to stand out and what a company loves, is when you show your willingness to listen and learn more, not just about your own role, but whilst mastering that, look at the next step ahead, it's all about progression after all, whilst some are happy to stay in their current position which by all means is fine, some want to go all the way, so share your knowledge and see if there are different skills and courses you can learn.

What are your tips on standing out at work?
