It might just be my favourite season yet!!! Halloween! Not only because it's the spookiest time of the year, but half term is here, which means no school for Leanora and some time off from work for me.

I am a planner, it is a simple as that I always like to know what I am doing and plan some fun activities in the half term. So I decided to share some not only fun activities to do, but days out and places to go an eat, in my 8 Things To Do With The Kids This Half Term.

We recently attended Neat Burger over in Central London, and all I can say is you must go. For kids it is perfect they have their own menu which is super affordable, plus it is a really decent amount of food that they get, even my little piggy couldn't finish it all. Neat Burger is full of flavour and I have to say one of my favourite Vegan burger spots.

Can you believe this is the final year that you will be able to skate at the Natural history Museum, so get your skates on and getting booking this exhbition will be running from the 22nd October and closes its doors on the 16th January 2022.

My all time favourite 90's film has to be Hocus Pocus, and this Halooween, Vue cinemas are showing this across London, so grab some popcorn and get booking and settle in to watch this spooky movie.

Halloween upon us and looking for a fright and something spooky to do, London Dungeons is perfect for an afternoon of fun and fright to get you in to the spooktacular Halloween mood.

Get your coats and scarves on, and lets head out on an adventure and hunt for the Gruffalo. Kew Gardens this half term  have fun surprises installed for you all as you go on a magical adventure through the deep dark wood. You’ll meet familiar beloved characters from author Julia Donaldson and illustrator Axel Scheffler’s book, including Fox, Owl, Snake, the Gruffalo, the Gruffalo’s Child and of course, the Big Bad Mouse.

Just because the kids are off school doesn't mean you can not learn whilst at home. Lets get scienced up and learning, there are loads of great science kits you can buy on Amazon and I've linked some of our favourites here.

I am a big kid at hear and I've always been a little particular when it comes too colouring in and staying in the lines in paramount! When not being that weirdo mum, Leanora and I love to do a three colour challenge where you close your eyes and pick on ly 3 colours and you have to colour in with just those colours or creat your own masterpiece with just those. needing a little spooktacular inspiration The Everymom has some free downloadable's.

Before Leanora I was never much of an Halloween person, dressing upa ll that jazz was not for me, but send me into the stationary store Rymans  I am guaranteed to come out in my weight of paints, pens, pencils you absolutely name it! We will be making these super egg carton halloween characters and its a great way of decoration and crafting together with the kids.

London has just closed it's doors on the Van Gogh Alive Exhibition in London, Kensington, it was the most beautiful immersive exhibition I have seen in my life time.

I have always been curious to learn more about Vincent Van Gogh and the team over at Timothy James & Partners  were able to make my dreams come true and my girl Leanora too. We were able to delve deep down into the creative mind of Van Gogh together as a family.

Timothy James independent financial advisers have a huge appreciation for art and are proud to be the official sponsor of the Van Gogh Alive - The Experience in London. This immersive experience would not have been possible without them.

Thirsty for knowledge? Our journey starts at the beginning so let’s dive in shall we!

Van Gogh a Post-Impressionist painter born in 1853 in a small town south of Netherlands, was a self-taught artist who did not find his true passion until his late 20's. Within 10 years he produced more than 2,000 works of art, 930 of that was oil paintings and 1,100 drawings and sketches. He only managed to sell a handful of these in his own lifetime, which include landscapes, still lifes, portraits and self-portraits.

It is truly a magnificent experience, and those lucky or unlucky enough to see Van Gogh’s artwork in real life are in for a real treat in experiencing his work in this virtual way. I do not even think my pictures truly capture its beauty, the colour and the music that accompanies this exhibition is truly remarkable and I can’t sing its praises more. It made for a wonderful day out with Leanora, just being able to get lost in the beauty of his artwork is magical, even for those who are not major art fans, just getting to learn more about Van Gogh and seeing, no feeling his artwork projected in this way is truly beautiful and an experience to be hold

They visually put this together in the most remarkable way, the art work is projected on a 360-degree digital  floor-to-ceiling projection is a wonderful artistic experience, where you are completely engulfed into more than 300 of Van Gogh’s sketches, drawings, and paintings through the use of floor-to-ceiling digital projections.

I have to say a massive thank you to Timothy James for opening our eyes and being able to experience this exhibition and while this exhibition may have just closed its doors here in London I do know that they are heading over to Salford Quays next in October and running until early next year, then shortly after over in Birmingham. I can’t recommend it enough! If you live in those areas, why not grab some family and friends and make a whole day of it and immerse yourself in the world of Van Gogh, you can find tickets and more information here.

After a lovely time spent at the Van Gogh Immersive experience, we set off to one of  our favourite places to eat in Soho, which we recently posted about in Where to eat in London.

Have you attended Van Gogh Alive exhibition what did you think?

We. Love. A. Rainy. Day. Nothing quite says Autumn is hear than with a little rain and a chill in the air. To be honest we are always out every weekend hands down guaranteed, always doing fun things in and around London, but this weekend I thought we stick a little closer to home and enjoy the leaves and rain falling from inside our home.

Uno

You know, I've never played this game up until recently and I do not know why, Leanora and I love it, it makes for a great family rain day game, granted I always lose, but it also helps with Leanora's maths, so winning all round....well me losing

Bake

With the kids settled back into school I plan on getting our aprons on and making the traditional school cake, I did have this on the blog, but knowing me I've accidentally deleted it, but you can find the recipe up on my Instagram here. But fret not i will certainly be putting it back up on here next week. I think there is something so satisfying about baking and baking with kids is fun, well until they make a mess, but eating our end result together is a sweet treat in itself.

Addams Family

My favourite 90's family movie, recently adapted in to an animated film, the second installment comes out next Friday, I've already pre-ordered our cinema tickets and very excited about going, so this weekend why not give yourself a little refresher and watch the movie version it is a great spooktacular way to start off the spooky halloween month, plus you can snack on our ghost pretzels whilst watching.

Sea Life

Always eager to learn and explore, why not head over to the beautiful wonders of Sea World, we always go tot he one in Chessington, but there are so many more dotted in and around London, it makes for a great day of spotting Dory and also keeps you sheltered from the rain all at the same time about learning about some magical undersea creatures.

Go puddle jumping

Ok, whilst I hate getting wet, the kids don't so I say hell with it and fully embrace these wetter months, get your wellies and raincoats on and head on out of the house, for some little exercise and a splash of puddle jumping with the kids then warm up with a coffe or hot chocolate and your favourite pastry.

What are your favourite rainy day activities? Let us know in the comments below.

Once again as it does, the weekend is coming and I am excited for it, who cares about the weather, its Autumn, it is always going to be up and down! What does matter is 10 fun things to do with the kids in London this weekend wither you live her or visiting I can certainly help you sort out your weekend.

1. Chessington
Throughout the summer we could not get enough of Chessington, every year we go and every year, we always find new exciting rides to go on. What's better each time we go Leanora gets a little taller, meaning we can go on so many more rides. it is a great day out spent with the family and not only is just for rides, but they even have a zoo there too.

2. Head to London Zoo
It's trying to spot the little cubs that does it for me, no I don't mean the kids, but seeing if the Lions have had a new cubs. This is the perfect place to explore see animals and birds alike that you've never spotted before, catch show and tell ad learn about animals you know and don't, and if you are lucky enough may just make it for feeding time and help feed the beautiful giraffes. What is best of all, kids under 3 go free.

3. Head To The Bookstore
As you know we are avid readers, so why not head to your local book store and find some new hidden gems that you and the kids can bundle up on the sofa with and enjoy a new magical fantasy for the family, not up for heading home then settle in at your closest and cosiest coffee shop.

4. Brighton Beach
Who doesn't love a good day at the beach, strolling along the promonade and eating your weight in fish and chips. Brioghton takes just over an hour and half to get there from London Liverpool Street, Or 1 hour from Clapham Junction, as soon as you get off the train, you see the glorious seaside straight in front of you. We also go to Brighton no matter the time of the year, there are loads of great boutiques, cafes and shops galore to go and explore.

5. Sail on a Go Boat
Why not sail your way around London Town and hire one of the uber cool boats for you and family and friends and taking in all it's wonder.

6. Play Golf
We are avid gamers in my house and we love a good challenge, granted 98% of the time I lose but Puttshack over in Westfield Shepherds Bush is always fun to go to. They have loads of holes and some are great because you can get to win prizes, such as your next game free, food, drinks you name it. We normally head over there after our mother and daughter Friday night dinner, It can get quite busy so I certainly suggest booking in advance, beucause if you get there you may have to wait a while or they maybe fully booked. Its a great game for the whole family to cheer one another on, just dont lose like me, as I am normally left carrying the winner (Leanora) on my back all the way home and I'm left buying the winner ice-cream.

7. Visit A Musuem
London is literally bursting with museums, our favourite has to be The Natural History Museum, but nonetheless which ever we go to, we always get to learn about so many different things, plus an added bonus most of them are FREE to attend.

8 Eat Some Fun Crumble
OK, lets clear this up, apple crumble, any crumble is not just to eat at school with custard or your for your Sunday pud, you can have it, whenever, wherever.....! Well not wherever, we recetly headed down to Shoreditch to check out Spitafields Market in search for some tasty grub and stumbled across, Humble Crumble! See my rhyming skils there lol!

9. Go To The Theatre
Check out some of London's best Theatres and the shows on offer. I've just booked us tickets to go and see Lion King, I was meant to go a few years back, but I was heavily pregnant at the time and bought ticket for my mothers birthday, but too heavily pregnant to go I will be making up for it now.

10. Visit Borough Market
Borough market can transform you in to a magical world of food galore from dishes all over the world. It is a great place to hang out with the kids and try some Delicious cuisines

I hope my 10 fun things to do with the kids keep you entertained, any to add let us know in the comments below! You may also want to check out my guide to every mums best weekend.

Fridays are the ultimate family movie night in our house, after a long week at work and school, we normally head straight out for dinner, then come home laden with goodies galore, throw on some comfy lounge wear and settle in for our Friday family movie night.

Growing up as a kid, we always had Saturday evenings or Sunday afternoons as our family movie time, back then it was all Star Wars, Labrynith or the Goonies, fast forward 30+ plus years later and a kid in tow, they are still some of my favourite films, luckily for me Leanora loves them too, well......Not yet Star Wars she may be a tad too young to sit through it, but don’t worry I’m working on it.

Luca

Disney+ latest family movie, set in Italy were two young boys become fast friends looking for adventure and knowledge. I absolutely adored this film, I even got a little upset at the end, when Luca set off to school leaving his best bud behind. Lica is funny, courageous and absolutely inspiring.

Raya & The Last Dragon

I mean come on, this movie hands down is amazing, I think Leanora and have watched this a million times, who hasn’t! This was one the first movies to be released throughout COVID, naturally in the cinema but in s lockdown, but Disney+  had this to purchase via a premium service, totally worth every penny for this epic adventure.

The Croods

I mean who doesn’t love a laugh out movie and this set in the stone age following a very weary family, with an ever so curious daughter, is the perfect family Friday night movie. Plus we are super excited as Croods 2 comes out next week and it will be Our first time back in a cinema since the restrictions have been lifted.

The Mitchell’s vs The Machines

Randomly we srumbled upon this coming of age, machine family fighting movie on Netflix. This story follows a family who’s daughter is a little different, sets off for college, which like most teenagers who can’t wait to run off for independence is brilliant. Dad who decides instead of letting his daughter jump on a plane to spread her wings at college, decides NOPE! Family drive, to the daughters frustration and along the way, they try to make memories, but those memories comes at a cost, a battle with the machines, a loving family movie is a must to watch.

Dora & The Lost City of Gold

I mean who doesn’t know Dora, the explore theme tune. Literally grew up hearing my little cousins and nieces and nephews singing all about Doras adventures with her trusty backpack. This film version I have to say did not disappoint, I was a bit sceptical at first, but as soon as I watched the song came flooding back.

The Witches

Now, for me this was one of my favourite Roald Dahl books as a kid and the movies I simply loved and I am always worried if a remake would be as a good as the original, but this was better, well same par. This is a great introduction to kids of opening their mind to the weird and wonderful writer that Ronald Dahl is.

What adventurous movies will you and your family be watching this weekend, have you watched any of the above or what are you and your family favourite movies to watch? Let us know in the comments below or you can tag me over on Instagram by using the #LondonMumma tag to show m us what you are watching this weekend?

Lindsey

I don’t know about you but I’m looking forward to this half term, not only do you get to spend it with your favourite humans, there is no getting up early for work or the school run whop whop! Guess who’s gonna treat themselves to new bed sheets for the special occasion....

Where to begin with so much fun stuff going on there is so much to look forward to, weather permitting of course, this week for us Londoners a bout of snow is on the horizon, personally I’m looking forward to it for the snow angels and snowball fights.

Cinema
I don’t know who is more excited Leanora and I and hopefully you too as we are off to watch the new Sonic the Hedgehog movie. All I can here in my head is the Sega Mega Drive coming on....all with me SEGA!

Cooking
Let’s talk everything from breakfast, blueberry breakfast muffins, quorn burgers for lunch, Aubergine lasagna for dinner and funfetti popcorn to doughnuts, forget about dining out and get cooking, plus you’ll save yourself some money too for those half term activities.

Theatre
Still time to catch Cirque Du Soleil’s epic Luiza show at the Royal Albert Hall, perfect for the whole family of all ages to watch this energetic, colourful acrobatic show about the wonder and beauty of Mexico.

Netflix & Chill
What free days are made for simply Netflix & chill. Not everyday you have to go out, yes I know the kids will destroy the house, but we all need a break and half terms can be expensive, so I say make a few favourite snacks dishes, get your comfies on grab the duvet off the bed sit back and relax on the sofa and watch a movie or two. Currently we are watching Locke & Key a great series for the family a little spooky at times, but you’ll know when it’s coming more suitable for older kids, however, another great family movie is Leanora’s favourites Angry Birds & Annie. When the kids are off to bed I’ll be watching The Stranger, I’ve not even started this yet and heard so much great thing about it, have you seen it? I’ve saved it for now so I can binge watch it now that I’ve a few days off from work.

Lightopia
The most amazing light show we’ve ever seen. Last weekend we set off down to Chiswick House & Gardens for a stroll around the park lit up by beautiful light sculptures from tinkerbell, dinosaurs, flowers and animals.

What are your plans this half term? I would love to hear and for you to share in the comments below.

Lindsey

Last weekend we spent the day at Chessington World of Adventure's, courtesy of 365 Tickets, nothing like a fun weekend riding roller coasters, face painting, stuffing our faces with doughnuts and a whole lot more, especially after a long week and Leanora starting school plus it is a great end to the summer, the perfect send-off.

Going to Chessington with Leanora has been on our list this whole summer and finally, the day came, to share a fun day out with her as I used to when I went with my Mumma and brother when I was a kid, it was literally the last thing to check off.

We jumped on the train, 3 generations all super excited, and within an hour we had arrived! I love theme parks, the thrill of the rides, the endless hot dogs and Leanora's favourite....the arcade, Chessington is just bursting with so much to do and explore, they have Sea Life,  a Zoo, daily shows, meet and greet with the Gruffalo and a few extra things for the whole family.

Honestly, we took so many photos, nearly dropped the camera thankfully that morning I put the strap on earlier that morning! I mean I am no baby, but Christ some of those kids rides were a little scary even for me and I have to admit that even though I struggled,  Leanora and my mum were both in their element, to cheer me up, mum and Leanora bought me a doughnut. Clearly, I'm a big kid.

A little rest from the rides, we went for a stroll to meet some of the animals. We were in luck as we spotted a new addition to the gorilla family the sweetest baby gorilla, full of beans playing with family, it was lovely to see that the whole family got stuck in to care for the baby, whilst dad took it easy.

Back ready for action we headed to meet the Gruffalo, in the deep dark woods, well a little boat which took us round where the Gruffalo roams.

I really like the fact that Chessington is not all about crazy rides for us big and little kiddos, but it is educational with talks throughout the day, about sea life and the other wildlife too.

The whole experience is brilliant and totally recommend you should go, no matter your age! Have you ever visited Chessington before? Great that the fact that is open all year round, if you do not happen to live near Chessington and live further afield, 365 Tickets have you covered no matter where you are in the world for some theme park fun at affordable prices.

A brilliant way to spend the summer wind down.

These bunny biscuits are divine, they make for perfect gifts for Easter and simply cute as a button, well for a short period until Leanora gets her little mitts on them and the nephews wolf them down......Bloody wolf pack!

They are easy to make, take no time at all and are truly delicious, especially with a coffee in hand or tea if you prefer.

If you are looking for an activity this Easter Weekend with the kids, I truly recommend on you guys rolling up your sleeves, whip on your aprons and get you and the kids to work, there is still loads of time to make up a batch or two.

Easter Sunday I should be taking it easy, lounging in bed, but we have already made a batch and now we are my granddads with two tins full of our Bunny Butter Biscuits and they are going down like a treat, nothing makes me happier than seeing people, family and friends come together and enjoying a good biccie that melts in the mouth and laughter all around.

I am going to share with you how to make these beautiful Bunny Biscuits, so hop on over to the kitchen (see what I did there) and, ready steady, it's time to bake.

Ingredients
125 grams of room temperature butter
100 grams of coconut sugar / or caster sugar
1 egg
200 grams of plain flour
¼ teaspoon baking powder
1 pinch of salt
plain flour for dusting

Directions
1. grab a bowl, add your butter and sugar, beat together like mad, then add your flour, salt, baking powder and whisk your egg and whisk it all together until fluffy and then roll into a ball.
2. cover in clingfilm and pop into the fridge for  2 hours, hop on over to the kettle and make yourself a cuppa.
3. take your plain flour and on a clean service, lightly dust. roll out your now firm dough until 1/2 cm thick.
4. preheat your oven to 180°C/350°F/gas 4.
5. grab your bunny cookie cutter and cut out the shapes until you have no dough left, then place on to a parchment paper then pop into the oven on the middle shelf for about 12-16 mins.
