It's impossible to not feel overwhelmed when you are a parent, with so much to do and juggle from work to kids parties, to be being on the PTA and looking after pets (no, I don't mean dad) and making biscuits for colleagues and preschool, and everything else in between, it can be hard to stay put together, phew I said it and I am not afraid to share some of my mum fails.
The past few weeks have been a little tough, to dealing with mediation, work, parenting, being a pet owner (Milo has been in a few fights of late) homeowner and blogger, trying to keep everything together on little sleep and with so much to do has been really hard and I felt my focus on being a better me/parent/daughter/friend has slipped and felt that I just needed a good cry, but instead I decided to take some time out and this weekend will be my first FULL weekend off in a very long time, and I am clawing my way to it!!
As a parent, I find that you are always expected to be on top of your game and frankly it's ok to not be on top of everything ALL the time. There are days when you just need to do as your child does and simply join in and kidult for the day.
What does matter however, is that you and your child are happy and healthy, I believe in teaching children it is ok to not be the best 100% of the time at everything, and it is ok to take a break and just be silly, have fun and enjoy the simple things in life, there is a time for play and time for work.
I find at times parents just are on a hamster wheel and going at 100 mph and forgetting to have some quality downtime be it on your own to recharge or with family and friends. So surely we should be forgiven when we become somewhat slightly frazzled and slip up, just a tad, I mean there is no shame in the game and just putting everything on pause as saying sod it, I'm getting down with the kid's, parent responsibilities, appropriate parent responsibilities are going out the window just for today.
Despite claiming that I have had a few mum fails, I thought I'd share with you some of my recent ones, to help brighten up your day and put a smile on your face and let you all know, that we can all have a few hiccups along the way and I am bloody sure I will have loads more to come.
I ate her sweets and blamed the cat.
I told her If she eats all her breakfast, that I would buy her a unicorn - SHE IS STILL WAITING AND ASKING.
I pretended I was asleep so that I did not have to get out of bed.
Forgot to pack tissue so let her wipe her hands all over me ( I had white jeans on!!).
I let her put makeup on me so that I could watch the tv in peace.
I let her put makeup on herself so that I could continue watching tv in peace.
I blackmail her, not afraid to admit it when I need quite or for her to get dressed.
I could not be bothered to leave the house all day, so didn't give her or me a bath.
I secretly encourage her to mess up my mum's house, so she knows how it feels and is sympathetic and has L for the night.
I farted and blamed her.
She farted and blamed the cat.
The cat farted, gave me a smug look and walked off (it stunk!).

With the amazing return of Game of Thrones last night I was totally buzzing and can not wait until the second episode! It got me thinking I wanted to talk to the new boy all about it's kick arse return, so during the second break which I was gutted about, (just play the show! Mumma needs her GOT fix and I've been waiting to many months for its awesome return) I was shocked to hear, angry even that he has NEVER EVER watched my beloved show!
Yep ladies and gents, my boys a weirdo!
Which got me thinking, how can I bring him up to speed stat! Buy him the box set duh!
What a way to A educate the boy on all its glory and B it makes for the perfect date night opportunity! Well as long as he buys the popcorn and pizza!
So the moment Game of Thrones ended last night I booted up the laptop and headed over to my favourite DVD site, HMV where I snapped up GOT complete series box set for just £50.00, which also comes with free delivery plus you can even collect points, which I think I will use towards the Bates Motel box set.
Be it you are normal and watched GOT, HMV have loads of movies perfect for date night.
What are your favourite movies for date night?
A big thank you to HMV for collaborating with me on this post.
Life can certainly throw some curve balls at you in life, least when you expect it and your patience can certainly be tested and anxiety can go into overdrive, but calming anxiety, especially since becoming a parent I can help with here, but patience is key and something I have mastered and still mastering, but being able to achieve and to maintain patience is a different thing, but I can certainly help you master it, with these 3 Ways to achieve patience. Trust me, these helped get me through, especially as I am connoisseur hot head!

I have been known to lose my temper quite quickly, instead of thinking of things like a rational normal person, yes embarrassingly I've been known to go in all guns blazing! Which A can make you look like a fool and B quite possibly a horrible person, which may I add I'm not (currently biting my teeth, with anxiety).

The thing is I am just impatient, I even walk fast, even just to go the shops. Through childbirth, I felt I was even trying to rush it and get Leanora out, all because I'm just too darn impatient.
Take it easy
Plain and simple, calm the heck down! I try to take and do things slower do things at a slower pace, no matter what, it will always be there if it is not then it's not meant to be, you will infuriate and suffer yourself if you continuously keep going like a mad person.
Find your calm
I am a big worrier, anxiety literally takes over my body and I jut run with it. A friend recently said to me, just be calm do not worry, whatever the end result, what will be will be. Just calm down.
Think
Before opening up and going off, just take the time to think about the situation. Think how you've come to this point, why you have to come to this point and why you are in the situation, that you may be in. Instead of going in with a clouded and frazzled mind, count to 10 and reassess the situation or matter at hand and then decide on what you are going to say or do.
Don't give up
Practice makes perfect and patience takes time, but not giving up on yourself is a sure fire way, to help you achieve patience. And inner zen! No one says you will get there the first time round, but believe in your shelf and have some faith, you will certainly achieve patience.

How do you practice patience, do you have any great tips?
